The Lafayette Board of Works approved an agreement that authorizes up to $80,000 to support construction and buyer assistance for a new home at 1319 North 18th Street, Cara Boyles of the city legal department told the board. Boyles said the funding will be drawn from Habitat for Humanity’s 2024 home awards.
"This agreement authorizes up to $80,000 in funding to support the construction of a new home and to provide direct home buyer assistance at 1319 North 18th Street," Boyles said. She described the planned result as "a newly constructed energy efficient home for a qualified home buyer contributing to the community's affordable housing." The presentation noted the project will contribute to the city’s affordable housing efforts.
The board moved, seconded and approved the agreement by voice vote. The transcript does not specify the mover, second or any dissenting votes. The agreement tasks the administrative parties to execute the funding arrangement and monitor development and disbursement of the funds; the board did not set additional conditions in the meeting record.
The item was presented by the legal department on behalf of LHA and was described as supported from Habitat for Humanity's existing 2024 award funding. No construction schedule or buyer selection details were provided during the meeting.
