Council adopts plan for 2025 CDBG sanitary sewer rehabilitation project

City staff presented the 2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) sanitary sewer rehabilitation project at the Dec. 1 meeting. Tyler Griffin described the work as installing a liner in approximately 4,200 feet of existing 8-inch sewer mains followed by reinstallation of roughly 75 service connections in approved low-to-moderate-income areas. Griffin identified the base project cost as $160,000 and said it will be funded by a CDBG award.
A councilor asked how long the liners last; Griffin said “probably 50 plus years” and noted the first ones were installed in 1994 and are still functional. A member of the public asked whether the oldest parts of town would hold up given added loads from new development; staff said project selection prioritizes aging areas and anticipated growth.
The council moved to adopt the plan specifications, form of contract, and estimate of cost and recorded a roll-call vote with all members voting aye.
