The board ratified an emergency procurement for a fire‑alarm system at Drexelook Elementary after staff presented competitive bids and recommended Central Fire and Communications.
Mister Brazy briefed the board on the emergency purchase process under district policy and reported three vendor quotes: Midstate Electric at $132,500; Central Fire and Communications at $76,800; and "SCIENCE Building Solutions" (transcript spelling) at $76,310. Staff said they sought a nonproprietary system to avoid expensive, vendor‑locked parts and to enable in‑house maintenance where possible.
After discussion, a motion to approve the staff recommendation to move forward with Central Fire and Communications was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Board members noted the anticipated long‑term savings from a nonproprietary system and staff said they hoped to complete installation before the Christmas break but could not guarantee a date. The board's ratification allows staff to finalize the emergency purchase and proceed with installation and vendor coordination.
