Brookshire, Texas — The Brookshire City Council on Dec. 18 approved the purchase and installation of a vehicle lift for the public works shop.

City staff said the BendPak lift was included in the city’s capital plan during summer budget planning and that staff negotiated discounts with vendors; a local vendor offered the same discount and would provide installation locally. Staff said the lift will improve employee safety (replacing use of floor jacks) and increase productivity.

An unnamed councilmember moved to approve the purchase and authorize the mayor to execute necessary documents; the motion received a second and the council voted to approve the purchase.

The lift and required independent lifts will be procured and installed as budgeted; the public-works department will oversee installation and safety checks prior to use.
