Marblehead policy subcommittee holds competency-determination draft while state finalizes graduation rules
The Marblehead Public Schools policy subcommittee reviewed a draft competency-determination policy (IKFE/IKF), agreed not to advance it at subcommittee pending state rulemaking and DESE guidance, and will present the draft as a first reading to the full school committee. Unidentified Speaker 3, a member of the policy subcommittee, said the group should "continue to look at the draft that we created last time, have that in place while the state is determining what they're going to do next, versus making other changes again." The subcommittee spent most of its meeting reviewing how the draft competency-determination policy (IKFE) aligns with state regulations and district grading practice.
