At its Nov. 18 meeting, the Moreno Valley City Council issued proclamations recognizing National Aviation History Month, Native American Heritage Month and Movember, with local leaders and nonprofit representatives urging continued community outreach and education.
The Moreno Valley City Council opened its Nov. 18 meeting with three ceremonial proclamations recognizing Aviation History Month, Native American Heritage Month and Movember. The mayor read proclamations honoring March Air Reserve Base’s long relationship with the city and the March Airfield Museum’s community role, invited civic leader Jamil Datta to accept the aviation proclamation and hear his remarks about March’s history and upcoming air-show plans. “New airplanes are coming. We’re getting KC-46 tankers,” Datta said, and announced the Thunderbirds are scheduled for the March 2027 air show.
The council also presented a proclamation recognizing Native American Heritage Month. Vanessa Brearty, district director for Assemblymember James C. Ramos, thanked the council and stressed why visibility matters: “Representation for us, it truly does matter.” Shula Arviso, introduced as a member of the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians, thanked the city and asked residents to use the month as “a foundation for ongoing dialogue, partnership and reconciliation.”
Finally, the council recognized Movember, a global men’s health awareness campaign, and welcomed Rebecca Dabbs of Movember USA, who praised the partnership and urged the city to keep elevating men’s physical and mental health services locally. “Movember is the leading men’s health organization globally,” Dabbs said, noting that awareness campaigns open doors to screening and support.
The proclamations were wholly ceremonial; no formal policy actions were taken during the presentations. Councilmembers and staff said the recognitions highlight local partnerships with veterans organizations, tribal representatives and health nonprofits and provide an opportunity to coordinate outreach, education and future events such as the March 2027 air show.
