At the start of the Dec. 8 study session the vice mayor moved to continue a battery-storage agenda item (9b) and, with counsel's agreement, leave the item on the consent calendar for a future council meeting. The vice mayor said he had "productive discussions with the interested parties" and was optimistic negotiations could produce an outcome balancing public health and safety with economic opportunity.
Council members agreed the item could remain on consent with a date certain; the mayor and staff indicated the continuance would give parties additional time to collaborate and potentially present a mutually acceptable resolution at the next meeting. No formal vote on the underlying battery-storage policy occurred during the study session.
