Nevada County adopts 2025 California building code; supervisors hear concerns about higher snow loads and affordability

The Board of Supervisors voted to adopt the 2025 California Building Standards Code (Title 14 amendment) effective Jan. 1, 2026. Staff briefed the board on AB 130, a six‑year moratorium on new residential amendments, higher snow‑load calculations that could raise construction costs, and a new Wildland‑Urban Interface code applying to new construction.
