Board splits CAD votes, forms committees and accepts intruder detection audit plan

At its Nov. 18 meeting the El Paso ISD board handled several governance and intergovernmental actions.
On a nominee ballot for the El Paso Central Appraisal District, trustees discussed candidates and agreed to a three-way split of their votes. Trustee Querre moved (Trustee Sutton seconded) to nominate Tenny Berg, Marlene Bullard and Jackie York and cast 133 votes for each candidate; the motion carried 7-0.
The board then established four standing board committees (Academics, Finance, Operations and Policy) with one-year terms and appointed trustees to each committee. The board president remains ex officio on board committees; trustees adjusted membership by amendment before finalizing the appointments. The committee structure was adopted by unanimous vote.
After a closed session under Texas Government Code provisions, the board returned to open session and Trustee Clare moved that the board accept the districtwide intruder detection audit plan as discussed in closed session, specifically including ongoing safety training for all campuses. Trustee Beals seconded and the motion passed 7-0.
These items were presented as routine governance and operational actions; trustees expressed appreciation to volunteers and emphasized transparency in committee work.
