Staff (S12) said six new businesses opened in November, including Spanxana Bank at 1680 Keller Parkway; Apple Roofing LLC at 630 Stone Glen Drive; a nonprofit called Beyond the Known International at 634 Stone Glen Drive; Specially Sweet Gourmet Chocolate Boutique at 241 South Main (taking over a space currently occupied by Swanky Chic); Hot Monde Beverages LLC at 1103 Keller Parkway; and Wabi House, which was in soft opening. The staff update also noted Aquario Pizza Pasta Bar applied for permits at 967 Keller Parkway and Monster Mini Golf and Market on the Stage have upcoming ribbon-cutting dates in December.
On the Open Rewards local‑shopping incentive program, staff said the second launch doubled participation compared with the initial six‑week pilot, and that by the morning of the meeting the program had distributed nearly $1,000 in rewards to participants. Staff reported 70 new businesses opened through November, 12 of which were restaurants, and said more comprehensive reporting will be provided early next year.
Council members and staff discussed on‑the‑ground promotion to small businesses and the use of economic‑development board members and staff to distribute marketing materials and train merchants about the program.
Staff asked council to note upcoming ribbon cuttings and to attend the events to support small-business openings.
