RILEY COUNTY — The Riley County Commission adopted the county’s long‑range policy framework, called the Comprehensive Plan 2040, at its Dec. 18 meeting following a final public hearing.
A planning director presented the final draft and reminded commissioners the state requires an annual review; staff and planning board hearings had already recommended approval. The director asked whether the commission wanted minor editorial adjustments made before filing; commissioners agreed to approve with the suggested clarifications.
The motion to adopt Resolution No. 121825 — described in the meeting record as the resolution adopting the comprehensive plan — was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote. The planning director thanked planning boards, committee members and the public for work on the multi‑year effort and said staff will continue with a first‑year review to identify any early modifications needed.
The commission’s action completes a planning process that staff said has been underway for more than two years. County officials encouraged residents to provide feedback during the annual review process and said staff will publish next steps for implementation and timeline for any follow‑up reports.
