Staff updates commission on comp plan timeline and Avalon Ridge construction work

Planning staff updated the commission on work on Verona’s comprehensive plan and recent development activity.
Staff said the plan task force will review a draft plan on Dec. 11, with a public draft expected in January–February and a final draft slated for the planning commission in March so the commission can make a recommendation to the common council, potentially in April.
Staff also updated commissioners on Avalon Ridge (North Main), reporting that public improvements such as grading, roads and stormwater work are underway and that building construction is likely not to begin until spring or summer. Staff noted a packet typo listing meeting dates as 2020 and clarified the dates are for 2026. Staff also announced that new commissioner Alejandro Hernandez will attend the next meeting.
