County approves several procurement and contract actions; rejects communications bids

The grant procurement group recommended rejecting the bids and pursuing a single-source procurement or buying through an existing buy board; the court approved rejecting the bids and pursuing the recommended path.
Separately, the court approved payment of Broadus & Associates invoice #60100-64 for $2,890 for professional services related to the downtown anchor project; the motion passed 4–1 with Commissioner Russo recorded as the sole 'Nay.' The county also authorized the county judge to sign a sculpture acquisition agreement for a giant binocular sculpture to be installed at the Aransas Pathways Linda S. Castro birding site; staff discussed differing completion dates in the documents and said installation and a reception were intended after installation.
Finally, the commissioners approved entering a contract for detention of juvenile offenders with the San Patricio County juvenile detention center and authorized the county judge to sign the necessary documents. County officials clarified that Aransas County’s juvenile probation maintains an office in the courthouse annex while detention services will be provided in San Patricio County’s facility.
Court actions were routine approvals to keep projects and intergovernmental services moving forward while staff follow up on schedule details and procurement steps.
