Speaker 1 publicly thanked the governor for visiting the Sioux Falls career and technical education (CTE) academy and said the first lady accompanied that visit, Speaker 2 added. "I wanna publicly thank the governor for visiting, Sioux falls school district," Speaker 1 said.

Speaker 1 encouraged board members to be visible at civic and legislative events such as the League of Women Voters legislative coffee, ribbon cuttings and groundbreakings, and said board members would receive board pins. The board emphasized that local governance, advocacy, public accountability and transparency are priorities heading into the legislative session.

Speaker 2 described an upcoming extended work session (previously called a retreat) and said the board will have a well-laid-out plan for the capital improvement plan (CIP) process. Speaker 2 said Mr. Conrad, Mr. Morrison and Ms. Conrad worked on the plan and that additional updates would be provided prior to the Jan. 26 strategic planning session the board scheduled.

The remarks framed the board's immediate calendar: participation in legislative conversations and a strategic planning session on Jan. 26 focused on district priorities and the CIP process.
