At the end of the Nov. 25 session, public-works staff provided a facilities update reporting first flows into the new wastewater plant, ongoing work at lift stations, and progress on a training facility and a 911 facility.
Steve told commissioners the plant has received its first influent flow and that Lift Station 6 and other lift-station work are underway while Lift Station 1 awaits Duke Energy for power. He said the gas station tied to the project is ready for power, phase 3 design work and land acquisition are underway, and the training facility is ahead of schedule though weather could affect dirt work. Steve also noted that the fairgrounds are open, that weights-and-measures and household-hazardous-waste operations are relocating into a building that will be torn down after the move, and that staff are preparing to proceed with demolition.
No formal action was required; commissioners thanked staff and closed the meeting.
Quote (from presenter): "We're on schedule. Obviously, ahead of schedule on some things."
