Field maintenance and lighting problems force scheduling changes for Strikers

The Royal Palm Beach Strikers board discussed near-term field maintenance and a village-funded project that will affect spring scheduling, and took operational steps to reduce safety risks from poor lighting.
Veil Hassan said the village informed the club that a grant application had been successful and the related project is tentatively projected to begin in May. "We were kind of projecting the project to begin sometime the begin May," Hassan said, noting the timing could affect competitive-team tryouts and the rec-season calendar.
Separately, the board reviewed a village maintenance closure: Seminole Field No. 9 is shut down for maintenance from Dec. 15 through Feb. 23. Members raised concerns about insufficient lighting in Zones A–D at Katz and reported that some fields were effectively dark for evening practice. After discussing safety and scheduling implications, the board decided to shut Zone C completely for maintenance, to keep Zone D lights on until 07:45 where feasible, and to move U10 and U12 games onto Field 5 while monitoring line painting on Field 2.
The board also emphasized an intention to avoid night games this season where possible; one member noted there will be no night games if the schedule can be packed earlier in the day.
Follow-up tasks assigned included notifying coaches of reassignments, coordinating with village staff on lighting schedules and maintenance fencing for Zone C, and monitoring field-line painting ahead of the compressed spring schedule.
