Polk County procurement reports expanded vendor pool, reduced charges and new bidding platform
Polk County purchasing staff reported implementation of the BeaconBid online bidding platform, a vendor outreach increase to more than 4,000 suppliers, higher solicitation counts and identified nearly $14,000 in recoverable telephone billing expenses.

Nicole, who leads purchasing and procurement for Polk County, briefed commissioners on efficiency and cost-saving measures at the Nov. 25 meeting. She said the county implemented BeaconBid, an online bidding platform offered at no cost to the county, which expanded the vendor pool from a few hundred suppliers to over 4,000. "This increase has helped improve competition and the overall quality of our solicitations," Nicole said.
