Keystone Central to pursue Verkada visitor-management system using PCCD grant funds

District staff presented a proposal to use PCCD grant funds to upgrade visitor and entry systems districtwide using the Verkada Guest platform.

Administrators described the system as a cloud-based visitor check-in and access-management tool that prints visitor badges, runs state and FBI-based checks as part of the check-in workflow, supports configurable "do not enter" lists per site, and stores visitor information in an encrypted cloud environment with administrator-configurable retention (examples cited: 90 days or shorter). The presentation emphasized that the grant covers purchase and initial deployment costs and that recurring equipment replacement is part of the vendor support arrangement.

Board members asked about data handling and retention; administrators and a vendor representative summarized that visitor data is encrypted, retention periods are configurable by the district and that non-matching data is purged quickly for privacy and security. Staff said the system was used by neighboring districts and that grant spending deadlines require the district to obligate funds by mid-2026.

The board expressed general support and thanked staff for securing grant funding. Administration will finalize the procurement and implement the system in accordance with the grant terms and district data-retention policy.
