Upson County raises sanitation rates to cover contract costs with GFL

The proposed change would move the $35 discounted quarterly rate to $40 and the $46 quarterly rate to $52.50. "I'm not trying to make any money off of this, but I need about $5 on each one of the rates is what I need," the presenter said, explaining the goal is break‑even. Commissioners discussed the history of the rates and asked staff to gather additional data; after discussion the commission approved the proposed increases.
Staff noted the adjustments are intended to make sanitation a pass‑through cost rather than a general‑fund burden. County and GFL contacts were described as available for complaint handling.
