Council accepts state cybersecurity grant to add an asset-inventory system

Roanoke City Council unanimously adopted a resolution authorizing the city to accept a VIDA state cybersecurity grant that will provide an asset inventory system for the city's technology department.
City manager staff introduced Vanessa Borer and David Clark from IT, and Borer said the grant is the third VIDA award the city has received. "The state is doing a great job of trying to get all localities access to cybersecurity tools," she said, adding the city looks forward to the new tools the grant will provide.
Council voted by roll call; all members recorded an "Aye." Staff noted the resolution authorizes the city manager or designee to execute the local consent agreement and related documents needed to implement the system.
No significant debate followed the presentation; staff will proceed with executing the agreement and implementing the asset inventory tools.
