Board approves $319,767 Title V grant submission, fund-commitment changes and contracts

At its Oct. 27 meeting, the San Felipe-Del Rio CISD Board of Trustees approved several finance and procurement items, including a Title V grant application, adjustments to general fund commitments, a paving contract and purchase of security vehicles.

Amy Childress presented the recommended submittal of the 2025–26 Title V, Part B Rural and Low-Income Schools Program eGrant in the amount of $319,767 and explained the district would submit through eGrants despite a federal shutdown. The board approved the submittal by motion.

Administration requested and the board approved increases in two general-fund balance commitments: the district warehouse asphalt replacement budget was increased from $100,000 to $171,075 (an increase of $71,075) because of higher material costs; and the allocation for two security department vehicles was increased from $95,500 to $118,834 (an increase of $23,334).

The board authorized administration to sign a contract with Vega Paving Inc. not to exceed $171,075 to repair and resurface the district warehouse parking lot. Administration said the project received one bid and described scope as overlay and localized full-depth repair near the dumpster area.

Chief Foss presented a purchase order to Sam’s Bastrop Ford for two fully equipped Police/Security Department vehicles not to exceed $118,834; the board approved the purchase. Trustees asked about vehicle equipment and placement; the chief said the vehicles arrive fully equipped and distribution will depend on fleet condition.

All items were approved by motions and carried unanimously as noted in the meeting transcript.
