The Lorain County Board of Commissioners approved an amendment to the county’s transportation development plan agreement with Via Mobility LLC, extending the contract timeline to May 31, 2026. County transit staff said the document is required by ODOT and the Federal Transit Administration and that the amendment allows RLS and Via to reengage work halted earlier this year while leadership issues were resolved.
Staff described the plan’s goal as coordinating micro‑transit services with existing fixed routes and emphasized the importance of public engagement; a transit survey was posted on the commissioners’ website to collect input from riders, drivers, employers, hospitals and other stakeholders.
In related business, county transit staff announced receipt of a $13,000 grant from the Community Foundation to support micro-transit operations. Staff said the county had previously received a grant from the Nord Foundation and that these funds will supplement operational efforts as the county seeks additional partners for the program.
Commissioners moved and approved the timeline amendment and acknowledged the grants as resources to continue micro-transit services while the county completes its development plan.
