Board grants multiple variance extensions including solar‑site seeding delay

The Will County Planning and Zoning Board approved a set of first variance extensions to allow applicants additional time to secure building permits or meet seasonal requirements.
Planner Marguerite Kennedy summarized that three variances in Lockport Township needed extensions because permits remain under review; if approved, those variances would be extended up to 07/06/2026 under the ordinance’s allowance for two 180‑day extensions for good cause. Kennedy recommended approval.
The board also approved the first extension for VEXT25‑007, a solar energy facility at 6952 West Bronx Road in Monee. The applicant said native groundcover plantings — necessary to meet the variance conditions for groundcover height and mowing frequency — require favorable spring planting conditions; staff recommended extending the variances until 06/15/2026 to allow establishment of the vegetation.
Each variance extension was voted on separately as required by staff, and the extensions were approved by roll call.
