Board approves side letter on correctional technicians' 12.25-hour shift schedule

Regina Schapp, personnel risk analyst, presented a side-letter agreement negotiated with the Peace Officers Association to address pay, overtime and scheduling language for correctional technicians who work a 12.25-hour shift. Schapp said the agreement mirrors an earlier side letter reached with dispatchers and is intended to fix legal and MOU language affecting overtime compensation.
"This agreement mirrors the same agreement that was brought before you for the dispatchers a few weeks ago," Schapp said, and described the purpose as correcting pay and overtime calculations created by the changed shift schedule. She said staff had spent much of the last 18 months addressing similar language across bargaining units.
Supervisor Bridal moved to approve the side-letter agreement and to authorize the chair and county administrative officer to execute it; Supervisor Scannell seconded. The board voted in favor on a voice vote.
The approval authorizes county executives to finalize and execute the side letter; implementation will be handled by human resources and the sheriff's office as appropriate.
