The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 4 adopted a proclamation recognizing Auditor‑Controller Kathy Gomes for her years of service and congratulating her on her announced retirement effective Nov. 14, 2025. The proclamation recounted Gomes’ county service beginning in December 1989, her move to the auditor‑controller’s office in 2011, an appointment by the board in December 2019 to complete a term, and her election in November 2022.
Board members praised Gomes’ leadership, responsiveness and mentorship of staff. Former colleagues and staff offered public tributes during the meeting, citing her technical knowledge (including high performance in Board of Equalization coursework) and commitment to stewardship of public funds. Gomes addressed the board, calling her time in county service an honor and noting she looks forward to retirement.
The board moved and seconded the proclamation and approved it by a 5–0 vote. The board invited Gomes forward for remarks and the item closed with staff and public expressions of appreciation.
