Mitchell County supervisors approve routine items, set early-January scheduling

The Mitchell County Board of Supervisors opened its Dec. 16 meeting by approving the agenda and the minutes of the Dec. 9 meeting. The board also approved the sheriff's report for November, which listed November fees of $7,842.22.
During department-head reports, the board discussed whether to move a meeting because Christmas falls midweek. Members agreed to hold a required 48-hour meeting on Friday, Jan. 2, and to revisit the Jan. 6 schedule after the holiday period.
Board members also discussed budget preparation procedures, including a staff suggestion to highlight a 2% area on department budget sheets to reflect potential wage adjustments while noting departments should not be locked into that percentage during initial budget preparations.
The meeting included routine administrative updates from the county engineer and other department heads. A moment of silence was observed for former supervisor Stan Waugh.
