Cross Timbers executive presents Erath County SART biennial report; county must submit to governor's task force by Feb. 1, 2026

Laura Gambino, executive director of Cross Timbers Family Services, presented Erath County’s 2025 biennial Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) report at the Dec. 8 commissioners court meeting and urged commissioners to read it and ask questions.
Gambino said the report compiles two years of adult sexual-assault statistics from every SART member agency and includes an updated SART protocol explaining each agency’s role in handling a sexual-assault case. She told the court that Cross Timbers provides services free of charge to the county and that the report is now a public record. Agencies listed in the report include Cross Timbers Family Services, Stephenville Police Department, Tarleton State University Police Department, Erath County Sheriff’s Department, Dublin Police Department, the Erath County District Attorney’s Office and Texas Health Resources Stephenville SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) services.
Gambino said state law requires counties to have a SART team and that, beginning in December 2023, teams must file a biennial report. She told the court the county must submit the report to the governor’s sexual-assault task force by Feb. 1, 2026 and warned that failure to submit could affect eligibility for certain state grant funding.
Commissioners thanked Gambino and the volunteers. The presenter said she had submitted an electronic copy on Dec. 1 and provided a physical copy to the court for review.
