Ross County reports progress on visitor center, trails and multiple construction grants

John (planning staff) said the visitor center development design is complete and that construction drawings should be finished in January with the county aiming to go to bid in February. He reported that Chester Hill is expected to be under contract before the next meeting and that 22 of 31 CMR-type projects are now under construction, albeit some progressing slowly.
Staff said state reallocations produced an additional $83,000 for a small Welsh Museum grant after value engineering identified COVID-related plumbing and electrical needs. Planning staff also said they plan to apply for an active transportation grant to update a 2020 active-transportation plan, with a likely request in the $50,000–$100,000 range.
