The Chambers County Commission on Nov. 25 appointed Johnny Jennings to a four-year seat on the local navigation district after the incumbent, Jimmy Turner, informed the county he would not seek another term.
County staff reported that Turner "does not want to continue to serve another 4 year term," and presented a letter from Jennings expressing interest. Commissioner Dagny moved to appoint Jennings; Commissioner Tice seconded. The commission voted in favor and the motion carried. Commissioner Gorey was absent for the vote.
The appointment fills the seat when Turner's term expires in December. No public opposition or alternate nominees were recorded during the item.
The commission moved on to other business following the vote.
