The North Platte City Council adopted its 2025–2031 1- and 6‑year road plan at the Jan. 6 meeting, outlining near-term paving projects and longer-term design work coordinated with NDOT.
City staff summarized the one‑year plan and the 2–6 year program, highlighting completed and proposed projects: Washington Street and several developer-driven streets in Mulligan Meadows (completed or underway), Curtis, 15th Street and portions of 17th Street planned for 2026, and larger design projects (Dewey and Newberry) slated for NDOT design and future bidding. The plan also flags two Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) eligible areas — a northwest and a northeast CDBG zone — where gravel streets may qualify for conversion to concrete under current grant rules.
Council members raised safety and maintenance questions, including pedestrian concerns under the Jeffers Street viaduct, overlay timing for West 14th Street and confirmation that storm-sewer work on East Francis was completed; staff confirmed storm facilities are in place and contractors are using dry weather windows to advance work.
The council adopted the resolution by voice vote. Staff will incorporate any additional maintenance items and scheduling based on funding and NDOT timelines.
What’s next: Staff will follow up on specific maintenance requests (West 14th overlay evaluation) and monitor the NDOT bidding schedule for the Dewey and Newberry projects.
