York County’s diversion program praised; county invited to host training

County Attorney Gary Olson reported outside recognition of York County’s diversion program and said a national partner invited the county to host training for other programs this summer after positive results since May 2025.
York County’s diversion program received external recognition and an invitation to host a training session for other jurisdictions, County Attorney Gary Olson told the Board of Commissioners.
Olson said he received correspondence from the Justice and Public Health Initiative and the Institute for Intergovernmental Research noting that York County’s diversion program is performing well. He said the program, which began taking participants in April–May 2025, is meeting or exceeding early expectations and that the county will likely follow through on the invitation to host training this summer.
Olson also reported that the state has resumed control of child support operations previously run at the county level and that an employee (Mathers) has moved to a part-time position in the county attorney’s office following the state transition.
