ARCNET explains long-running IT role; Walker County plans to formalize agreement

Brian McJunkin, president of ARCNET Incorporated, presented to the Walker County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 8 about ARCNET’s longstanding work for the county. McJunkin said ARCNET, an SBA HUBZone–certified company headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has provided infrastructure management for emergency services, hosted 911 operations and hosted the county’s Logos HR/payroll environment since roughly 2018, with prior project work dating back to 2013.
McJunkin described ARCNET’s certifications and past projects for county schools and administration and said the company looks forward to continuing services. Chairwoman Teane said prior administrations had operated without a formal written agreement and that the county administration now plans to enter into a signed agreement with ARCNET in the near future to ensure service levels and fees are documented.
Why it matters: Transitioning to a formal contract documents service obligations, performance expectations and rates for core IT infrastructure and emergency services platforms. Commissioners said a formal agreement is appropriate given ARCNET’s multi-year role.
What’s next: County staff will proceed with drafting and executing a formal services agreement with ARCNET for board review and execution.
