The Alpharetta Planning Commission opened its first meeting of 2026 by electing Francis Kung Yu as chair and Commissioner Jill Reynolds as vice chair, both chosen by voice vote. The newly seated chair then led the meeting into consideration of a single rezoning and variance application for a Milton Avenue parcel.
The elections were brief. A commissioner nominated Francis Kung Yu for chair and the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote; a separate nomination for Jill Reynolds as vice chair carried by voice vote. After the votes the commission continued with the meeting agenda.
The meeting proceeded to a substantive land-use item concerning a 1.34-acre parcel in downtown Alpharetta. Staff told commissioners the agenda otherwise contained deferred items and that the rezoning would be forwarded to City Council, which the staff said would hear it on Jan. 26.
The meeting adjourned after the commission completed its business and set the next meeting for Feb. 5.
