The Charlotte County–Punta Gorda Metropolitan Planning Organization voted unanimously on May 19 to adopt the final 2025 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) covering FY2026–2030.
FDOT staff and MPO staff described the TIP as a five‑year programming document that follows the state Department of Transportation’s annual work program. FDOT staff said the work program lists roughly $1.09 billion in projects and commitments for the county over the multi‑year snapshot, with funds split approximately 59% federal, 18% state and 22% local (staff presentation at the public meeting).
The public‑input portion of the hearing produced no speakers on the TIP, staff reported, and the board closed public testimony before taking a roll‑call vote. The board member who moved approval asked for a roll‑call vote; each participating member recorded an affirmative vote and the chair declared the measure passed unanimously.
Adoption of the TIP programs the projects and allows staff to proceed with the next steps in project delivery and the ledger of federal and state funding, but it does not itself change any local zoning or property rights.
