The Orange County School Board voted to authorize staff to begin negotiations on an interim contract with Gilbane Construction, which is partnering with RRMM as architects, to build a new career and technical education (CTE) facility at the high school.
Superintendent Doctor Hornick told the board the recommendation is the next step in moving the project forward. "We are really excited to get this off the ground, and this motion will signal your support and help us move the ball down the field a little bit further as we tackle this particular project," Hornick said.
A board member moved the item and, after a second, the board approved the motion and proceeded with discussion of project next steps. The vote was taken by voice and recorded as all in favor.
The authorization directs staff to enter interim contract negotiations; it does not constitute final contract award. Additional approvals, including final contract terms and any required procurement or board approvals, will be required before construction begins.
Next steps: staff will enter negotiations with Gilbane and RRMM and report back to the board on the negotiated terms and recommended contract actions for future board consideration.
