Board approves intercom and camera upgrades, and transportation building access control

Facilities director Kevin presented three security-related capital projects: a districtwide video intercom upgrade (Avigilon Intercom Reader Pro, recommended vendor INA), a camera upgrade and replacement plan moving the district to a Vigilant-based ecosystem (recommended integrator ADS), and an access-control/camera integration for the transportation building to improve staff safety and protect assets.

Kevin said the intercom project was budgeted and would integrate with the current and future camera/floor control systems; the board amended the motion to specify INA as the contractor and approved it 7–0. On the camera upgrade, Kevin noted many district cameras are nine years old and cannot be firmware-updated; the board approved ADS for the camera upgrade for $32,822.79 by roll call (motion passed 7–0).

For the transportation building, Kevin described security gaps—open entry, inconsistent access with keys, and inadequate camera coverage—and proposed adding Vigilant cameras, an intercom leader pro and door control tied into the district system. After discussion about camera placement and asset coverage, the board approved ADS for the transportation building project in the amount of $57,152.54 by a 5–2 vote.
