Council proclaims January Human Trafficking Prevention Month and honors Isaiah 117 House

The Bristol City Council on Jan. 6 issued two proclamations recognizing local anti-trafficking efforts and child-welfare support.
Councilwoman Friar Robin read a proclamation designating January 2026 as Human Trafficking Prevention Month and Jan. 11 as Human Trafficking Awareness Day, citing the Tennessee Counter Trafficking Alliance and the Community Coalition Against Human Trafficking in East Tennessee. Gracie Delaney, representing the coalition, thanked the city, outlined free aftercare services for survivors (therapy, care coordination, emergency shelter, transitional housing) and announced a comfort-care kit drive and training opportunities via growfreetn.org.
Council also proclaimed Jan. 17, 2026, Isaiah 117 House Day to recognize the nonprofit’s role supporting children entering foster care. Representatives from Isaiah 117 House accepted the proclamation and said the organization has helped nearly 900 children since opening in August 2020 and served 108 children in 2025.
The proclamations carry no legal force but are intended to raise public awareness and encourage collaboration among city agencies, law enforcement, service providers and volunteers.
