Lorain County commissioners approved awarding a contract to Specialized Construction Inc. of Cuyahoga Heights for $619,950.80 to resurface Chestnut Ridge Road in Eaton Township.

The county engineer said 11 bids were opened on Dec. 9 and the recommended contractor was the most responsive and compliant. Work will resurface Chestnut Ridge Road from the City of Valeria corporation limit to the City of North Ridgeville corporation limit. The engineer's office will issue a notice to proceed upon full execution of the contract and authorized work to begin after the county engineer's authorization.

The engineer reported that the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will provide 8% of construction cost for the project and the remaining 20% will be provided by the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC). The board approved the contract by voice vote and commissioners expressed approval of the competitive bid turnout.

The contract sets a completion date of July 15, 2026.
