Wichita County takes multiple road-material bids under advisement; returns item in two weeks

Staff presented multiple road-material bids from vendors including Cortex Construction, O S and S, Ergon, Zach Burkett and Delisi for emulsions, various sizes of crushed rock, crushed concrete and hot/cold lay products. Bids included origin and delivered prices for Wichita Falls, Valley View, Iowa Park, Burkburnett and Electra, and some bids were subject to price escalation while others were not. Ergon’s bid included specific additions such as pump charges ($150), a demurrage fee ($100) and a federal environmental fee per gallon; another vendor had origin-only pricing without delivered rates.

Commissioners discussed delivery locations and escalation clauses and asked staff to monitor vendor notice requirements for price changes. Commissioner Beauchamp moved and Commissioner Fincannon seconded a motion to take the bids under advisement and place the item back on the agenda in two weeks for further discussion and possible action; the motion carried 5–0.
