Commission approves Oak Haven and Parcel 3B final plats in District 4

The Lee County Commission approved two final plats in Commission District 4 during its meeting.

Oak Haven: County staff presented the Oak Haven final plat at Lee Road 179/279, which creates seven residential lots with the smallest lot measuring 2.98 acres. Adjacent property owners were notified by mail and two residents — Jerlene Morgan (representing Catherine Williams) and Antrece Potter (advocate for James Jones) — asked how the subdivision would affect their property and access. Staff responded that the new lots would have frontage and no new access would cross neighbors' property. A motion to approve the final plat was made by an attending commissioner and carried unanimously (motion at SEG 992; vote recorded SEG 997–998).

Parcel 3B: The commission also approved the final plat for Parcel 3B on Lee Road 344/341, creating four lots with the smallest lot at 1.5 acres. Staff confirmed adjacent owners were notified and commissioners discussed potential taxpayer costs for additional infrastructure; the motion to approve passed following a brief discussion (motion at SEG 1021–1022; vote recorded SEG 1049–1052).

Both approvals were procedural final‑plat decisions based on submitted plats and notification to adjacent owners. County staff noted that subdivisions must rely on existing road frontage in these cases and that the commission does not have authority to prevent a property owner from subdividing their own property on their land. No conditions or variances were recorded in the meeting minutes for either approval.
