Washington County approves routine contracts, HR extension, lane vacation and website migration

Washington County Commissioners Court cleared multiple routine items Jan. 13, approving a slate of venue contracts for the Washington County Expo, extending a temporary HR administrative assistant position through June 20, 2026, and handling several administrative approvals.
The court approved six pending Expo venue contracts for events including the American Cutting Horse Association, Bluebonnet Cutting Horse Association, Central Texas Beekeepers, a wedding/Quinceañera and the Greater Houston Quarter Horse Association, and authorized the county judge to execute the contracts.
Miss Galton requested the extension of the county’s temporary HR administrative assistant through June 20, 2026, citing repeated recruitment cycles and payroll workload; commissioners approved the personnel extension by voice vote.
County engineering presented an order to abandon and vacate approximately a 1‑acre sliver at the end of Malinowski Lane that is currently farmed and not used for infrastructure. Staff said utilities provided no‑objection letters. Commissioners required correction of a clerical reference on the acknowledgment page that named the wrong county (page reference cited as 'County of Harris'); the court approved the abandonment conditioned on correcting that reference.
The court approved December 2025 meeting minutes after staff indicated there were no corrections, and finance staff presented accounts payable for approval, noting about $124,600 related to a jail kitchen payment funded by ARPA among the items. The court approved accounts payable by voice vote.
Finally, the court approved a purchase of website hosting and subscription services from CivicPlus, authorizing the county judge to execute necessary documents. County staff said the migration will include a full content transfer, improved search and AI capabilities, and built‑in ADA accessibility; staff noted the incumbent vendor was raising rates and the county intends to migrate and refresh its website content.
All motions in this package were approved by voice vote.
