Mister Antonucci summarized the change: the form-based sign regulations replace text-heavy provisions with graphic examples, measurement diagrams and tables to clarify requirements for the public. The proposal reduces the total wall sign area from 2 square feet per linear foot to 1.5 square feet per linear foot, and increases the maximum area for projecting signs from 36 to 50 square feet. Planning staff and the planning commission recommended approval, saying the changes would promote visual interest, pedestrian-friendly storefronts and predictable rules for business owners.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing. Councilman Fusco moved to pull the committee and refer the item for further consideration; council members recorded aye and the item was referred.
