At Culpeper Middle School (CMS), the renovation is progressing with steel framing and masonry work, interior demolition and the installation of a proposed 'monument' staircase; the contractor used geofoam in areas to prepare for concrete work.
On nutrition, staff reviewed the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) participation and said breakfast counts appeared lower in December because there were fewer service days, while averaged metrics compared favorably to last year. Transportation routing saw a reduced morning ridership percentage consistent with seasonal patterns; staff reiterated recruitment efforts for bus drivers and offered flex options and weekend and night classes for prospective drivers.
Technology staff reported configuration and software updates for a weapons detector system (referred to in the presentation as the 'CIA Open Gate'), which was in use that evening at Eastern View. Stop‑arm violation numbers for December were not yet available; staff said they were waiting for the most recent report.
