Jan 10, 2026

The council approved submitting the municipal roads agreement to secure Road Restore funds (allocations noted at $281,000 FY24, $182,000 FY25, $91,000 FY26). Submission secures eligibility; it does not commit the town to spend the matching funds.

The full story

Town staff briefed the council on the state's municipal roads program (now called 'Road Restore') and requested approval to submit the fiscal 26 agreement to secure state funds. Staff reported that Little Compton received allocations of $281,000 in fiscal 24, $182,000 in fiscal 25 and $91,000 in fiscal 26; the state pays roughly one-third of project costs, so the town would need to provide a local match to realize full project funding. The staff presentation emphasized that signing and submission secures the state's allocation but does not obligate the town to expend matching funds until the budget process determines available local resources.
