Assembly introduces Tri Valley generator ordinance; postpones final action

The Denali Borough Assembly on Jan. 14 introduced Ordinance 26-01, a proposed third and final allocation of $200,000 from the borough’s major school maintenance fund to complete installation work for a backup generator at Tri Valley school.
Assemblymember (speaker 6) said construction costs rose because the backup generator must be connected directly to the building’s fire pump, which is located on the opposite side of the building from the main power connection. The ordinance would cover increased installation costs; installation procurement and construction will be bid separately and the school district is coordinating installation details.
After introduction and a roll-call reading of the ordinance, an assembly member moved and the assembly seconded a postponement. The assembly voted unanimously to postpone consideration of Ordinance 26-01 until the next regular meeting so members can review additional details and the administration can consider suggested amendments.
The ordinance remains on file and will return to the assembly for further action next month. No funds were expended at the Jan. 14 meeting.
