Laconia School Board approves 2026-27 calendar, policy changes and accepts $5,000 donation

The Laconia School Board on Nov. 18 unanimously approved a package of administrative actions, accepted a $5,000 donation for school food services and elected new leadership.

The board elected Jen Anderson chair and Zach Ford vice chair in motions that passed on voice/show-of-hands votes recorded as unanimous. The board also approved the continued appointment of Linda as clerk.

In a formal action, the board accepted a $5,000 donation from the Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary to benefit food services. Greg LeBoehn, identified as the club’s president, presented the check and said, "we just like to put that in a check for $5,000." The motion to accept the donation was moved and seconded and carried seven-zero.

Board members approved a revised superintendent job description after discussion about preferred qualifications, work‑year language and fiscal responsibilities. The board voted to adopt the job description with the revisions discussed during the meeting; the motion passed seven-zero.

The board approved the 2026-27 school calendar as presented, including a four‑day opening week before Labor Day for students and alignment with sending schools. The vote to adopt the calendar passed seven-zero.

On policies, the board moved the second readings into action: it approved revisions to policy BGA (policy development) and adopted policy GCRD (tutoring for pay). The board also voted to rescind policy VGAP (policy development/adoption procedure). All policy motions were approved unanimously, with votes reported as seven-zero.

Procedural votes earlier in the meeting included approval of the agenda (7-0), acceptance of the Nov. 3 minutes (as read), and approval of certain nonpublic minutes noted with the attendance tallies reported during the meeting.

The meeting concluded with an adjournment at 6:56 p.m.

The board did not receive public comment during the allotted general comment period.
