San Rafael staff to present RFP to update 31‑year‑old transition and ADA plan

San Rafael staff told the commission they plan to seek a consultant to update the city’s 31‑year‑old self‑assessment transition and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) plan.

Greg Minor, who said he joined the City of San Rafael in late October, told commissioners he is “looking forward to help coordinate an update to the self assessment transition plan” and is “anticipating presenting an RFP to this commission in June.” He asked commissioners to forward any examples of updated transition plans to staff and provided an email contact for submissions.

Why it matters: the existing transition plan dates to the mid‑1990s, and commissioners and staff said an update would align public‑works projects, parks improvements and accessibility fixes with current standards. Minor asked commissioners to avoid communications that would create a quorum outside formal meetings, but invited links or plan examples to be sent to staff for consideration.

Commissioners and staff said the commission will likely participate in both consultant selection and the subsequent document review process. The commission set a follow‑up meeting for Wednesday, June 4 at 2 p.m. when staff expects to present the RFP and related budget items.
