Wilmington — During public comment on Jan. 12, Nadine Damien, senior development manager at Cultivate Power and project manager for Copperleaf Solar LLC, introduced a proposed 5‑megawatt community solar project planned for West Washington Street just south of the Constitution Trail.
"Copperleaf Solar is a 5 megawatt community solar project proposed for development on West Washington Street, just south of the Constitution Trail," Damien said, describing community solar as a way for residents and small businesses that cannot install rooftop systems to subscribe and receive credits on their Ameren electric bills. She told the council that participation is voluntary and that subscribers typically see savings of 10 to 15 percent.
Damien also noted there were consent‑agenda items related to Copperleaf on the council docket and thanked city staff Alyssa Pemberton and Kelly Pfeiffer for their assistance.
The presentation was introductory; no council action on the project was recorded during the meeting. Damien said the developer had committed a financial contribution to the West Bloomington Revitalization Project and offered to provide further program details after the meeting.
