Trinity County commissioners impose burn ban amid drought concerns

Speaker 2, the presiding officer, read permitted exceptions and safety conditions: residents may burn in a drum with a cover, may barbecue but must have water immediately available, and persons doing burns must be at least 18 years old. The judge also instructed staff to post the burn-ban notice on the county website and to include explanatory language about barrel burns and screening.
The order was presented as an immediate safety measure tied to drought conditions and local firefighting capacity. Commissioners said the ban aims to reduce risk while allowing limited, safe cooking and contained burning where screening and water are provided.
