County engineer reports road work updates; board approves two utility permits

The Muscatine County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 3 approved two utility permits and received project updates from County Engineer Brian.
Brian said Aeryon Network Services has requested relocation of fiber on Stewart Road from just south of Fruitland Road north to the city limits to resolve conflicts with county construction. Alliant Energy requested to bore along 120th Street where private easements could not be secured, requiring brief work in the county right of way. The board moved and approved both permits.
Brian also provided project updates: paving progress on Stewart Road (work progressing north from Fruitland Road and shoulder/intersection work under way), grading and rock placement on the 160th Street box culvert project (site ready for fence replacement and anticipated opening), and an upcoming preconstruction start for the 180th Street/Pleasant Prairie Road box culvert project with contractor scheduling expected in the next two weeks.
Brian said crews will likely remove pavement about 1,000 feet north of current work this week and noted where the contractor may stage material near a mobile home park; he asked the board to note the timing while field fences are replaced and traffic is managed.
